TAKE ACTION to protect Vancouver Island's Ancient Forests!

What can you do to save our ancient forests and jobs?

  1. SIGN the ONLINE PETITION.

  2. DOWNLOAD and CIRCULATE PETITION HARDCOPIES. Return filled copies to the Western Canada Wilderness Committee at 651 Johnson St., Victoria, BC V8W 1M7

  3. WRITE a LETTER and PHONE Premier Gordon Campbell and your own elected provincial representative (Member of the Legislative Assembly - MLA) and let them know whether or not you'd like them to protect the remaining ancient forests on Vancouver Island. Politicians know that each letter you write represents hundreds of people who feel the same way but haven't taken the time to write.

Simply let them know whether or not you believe:

    • The BC government should end the logging of old-growth forests on Vancouver Island, of which almost 75% of the original, productive forests have already been logged, including 90% of the valley-bottoms.
    • Ensure that the Vancouver Island timber industry shifts into only logging second-growth forests at a slower, more sustainable rate of cut.
    • To protect timber industry jobs, the BC government should ban raw log exports and help assist the development of mills that process second-growth logs.

    Write and Phone:

    Premier Gordon Campbell
    Legislative Buildings, Victoria, BCV8V 1X4
    Fax: 250-387-0087
    Email: premier@gov.bc.ca

Your own MLA, who you can find by going to: http://www.legis.gov.bc.ca/mla/3-1-1.htm

When you phone make sure you let the BC provincial politicians (or their assistants, who you will likely talk with) know your name and home mailing address for your input to be valid!

Be sure to include your mailing address on your letter and envelope.

If you don't live in BC, please write to Premier Gordon Campbell.
